Words you do not quite understand, or perhaps do not understand at all, can be a major obstacle to learning.
In texts you will find two different kinds of language: jargon and abstract language.
Jargon
These are words you can often find described in your textbooks. Usually you can find pictures of what they mean, for example with a Google image search. For a word to be jargon it has to be used in a particular way within a particular field. Think of a word like “climate” in geography, or “set” in mathematics.
Abstract language

When you think you understand it well enough, make your own examples and ask whether they are correct.
